Let's give a back story here as the Florida State football team accomplished an undefeated regular season and a conference championship during the 2023 season. The fan base is still struggling with PTSD after the College Football Playoff excluded them from competing for a national championship in favor of a one-loss Alabama team (rightfully so).

However, I know that the head football coach Mike Norvell, and his coaching staff will do their best to ensure that it does not happen this season as the College Football Playoff has expanded from four to twelve teams. This allows the Seminoles to make his presence known in the college football landscape.

Florida State plays the following schedule for the 2024 season:

-vs Georgia Tech (Ireland)

-vs Boston College

-vs Memphis

-vs California

-at SMU

-vs Clemson

-at Duke

-at Miami (lol)

-vs North Carolina

-at Notre Dame

-vs Charleston Southern

-vs Florida

The early portion of the schedule sets up nicely as the Seminoles look to start fast with a potential 5-0 record. While I don't want to jump the gun given that this squad consists of several newcomers, I do believe that the coaching staff is very confident in the team's ability to be successful.

The back half of the schedule presents a challenge with playing Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Florida. If the Seminoles could find a way to win at least two of those five games, it would give them a chance to go into a potential ACC Championship Game appearance with a 9-3 record and a chance to clinch a College Football Playoff berth.

Overall, you knew what the investment was during the 2023 season with so many contributors returning to Tallahassee with one goal in mind: Win a national championship. However, fans seem to be hesitant with the Seminoles' chances given the unpredictability.

With that being said, I firmly believe in Florida State's ability to make the College Football Playoff. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Seminoles have 25/1 odds to win the national championship. I think Norvell is tired of hearing about the playoff snub from last year and feels that this best collection of talent that he has had since he got there in Tallahassee.

Don't sleep on the Seminoles as I predict that they will be one of the twelve selected in the playoff when December comes.
