FSU football had an elite defense at the end of the 2023 regular season. The Noles barely allowed any touchdowns in the second half of their regular season and stepped it up another notch once Jordan Travis was lost. That defense would have shown up and given any offense in the playoffs problems had the College Football Playoff Committee not snubbed the Noles. Several FSU defensive players got invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl. It's no surprise they are standing out amongst their peers. Check out some of the commentary from those in attendance at the practices:

Competition period to end the first practice. One rep: offense chooses a WR, defense chooses a DB. Winner takes all.@FSUFootball CB Renardo Green got the win. Press coverage is his speciality. He showed it here pic.twitter.com/5dYKNEyo4s

Fabien Lovett @fabo_54 was a monster in Shrine Bowl practice today.

Here’s a rep of him letting Michigan OL/Tiktok star Trente Jones know that not *everyone* is afraid of him pic.twitter.com/ComnE8te7r
Big day for @nado2times

Not only was he the top DB from day 1 of #ShrineBowl practice, he also received his NFL Combine Invitation!
Well deserved. Excited to see his stock keep rising pic.twitter.com/mkc7ilFIRu

Haven’t seen anyone block him clean yet.
Jordan Travis, Jarrian Jones, Renardo Green, Fabien Lovett, and Kalen DeLoach accepted invites to the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl. All four defensive players were vital components to FSU's success on defense, and all had been at FSU since at least the 2020 season. Ironically, they all dealt with adversity early in their FSU careers. Jones and Green battled injuries, Lovett had success but battled an injury in 2022, and DeLoach didn't do much in his first two seasons before blossoming into one of the top linebackers in the ACC. Jones was arguably the top nickel cornerback in the nation. Green was one of the top cornerbacks in the ACC, and it shows in the clips above. However, how impressive is it to get chosen for one rep in a winner-take-all all situation and win the rep? That's what Renardo Green did to end the first day of practice. I'm not sure how much DeLoach is participating at the practice since he played in the Orange Bowl, but he saw his stock increase with his play in the 2023 season. All these guys developed tremendously while at FSU in the past few seasons. I know rival fans like to troll, but FSU continues to produce evidence contrary to the false narratives they try to put out there.
The East-West Shrine Bowl will take place at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, on Thursday, February 1st. The game will air on the NFL Network at 8 p.m. ET.
