Florida State running backs coach David Johnson spoke to the media after the Seminoles' fourth practice on Monday morning. The program continues its upward trajectory as Florida State looks to have a successful 2025 season with all of the newcomers.

The running back position is loaded with talent having options such as Roydell Williams, Jaylin Lucas, Lawrance Toafili, Samuel Singleton Jr., Kameron Davis, and Micahi Danzy.

Davis and Danzy were the 2024 recruits that the Seminoles brought into its program. Davis was an early enrollee and his frame stands out to people who are around. On the other hand, Danzy enrolled to the program in the summer and seemed to be an afterthought during the 2024 season.

The four-star prospect from Tallahassee has put on a show. Coach Johnson provided the following statement about the hometown hero: "Micahi Danzy has really been a surprise. He wasn't here this spring, but he has been here for this camp. I got him at 21 miles per hour yesterday so that was big for him."

This doesn't come as a surprise as Danzy was a track star in high school. His speed is blazing and he can separate quickly from opposing defenders. I included him in my breakout players list for the 2024 season, and as I alluded to in there, his speed could be something that the Seminoles cannot ignore.

I realize that the running back group is a crowded bunch and Danzy might not get as many carries as he would like. However, the rotational opportunities during the 2025 season could be endless for the speedy athlete as he and Kameron Davis will be battling for their spots.

Coach Johnson always seems to have a plan in place with his running backs and I cannot wait to see what he has in store with Micahi Danzy.
