Q&A with Class of 2026 5-star safety target Zechariah Fort
FSU football had a fantastic Junior Day event that was filled with numerous highly-touted prospects. One notable prospect that attended was the Class of 2026 five-star safety Zechariah Fort from IMG Academy in Bradenton (FL). We at ChopChat decided to conduct a Q&A with Fort.
Q: What was it like coming to Florida State for their Junior Day event this past weekend?
A: "It was great. The environment there gave like a homey type of feeling, the hospitality, and the overall visit was great."
Q: What did it feel like when you received an offer from the Seminoles?
A: "When I received an offer from the Seminoles, it was an amazing feeling. I'm blessed to be offered by one of the universities that I used to watch growing up."
Q: How has your relationship been like with defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr? Have you connected with anyone else on the staff?
A: "My relationship with Coach Surtain Sr. is very close. I feel like I can talk to him about anything, just life in general. Whatever he says, I listen. He's coached and played at all levels of football. I'm also very close with Coach Adam Fuller and Coach Mike Norvell."
Q: As you start to narrow down your recruitment, what are some factors that go into picking the school of your choice?
A: "My relationship with the coaches, development to get me to the next level, and playing for a national championship are factors for me."
Q: What stands out to you about the Seminoles overall?
A: "Just the culture, how real it is, and how it's like a family there."
Q: Where does FSU stand in your recruitment? Are they one of your top schools?
A: "My recruitment is open, but FSU is definitely one of my top schools."
Q: Do you have any visit plans on getting back to Tallahassee anytime soon?
A: "Not anything set, but I can't wait to get back down there."
