Florida State football is still looking to add talented pieces to its 2025 recruiting class. One target that they are pushing heavily for is four-star defensive back Gregory Xavier Thomas from American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida.

We at ChopChat decided to conduct a Q&A with the talented defensive back prospect.

Q: Let's say that you stop at the gas station, what is your go-to snack?

A: "I'll get me a bag of Haribo gummy bears, either Snickers, Reese's or Cookies n' Cream Hershey's, and an Arizona."

Q: You have been to Florida State on several occasions now. What stands out to you about the Seminoles?

A: "I think the thing that stands out the most is that every time I go, it's the same amount of love and energy from the coaches."

Q: I know you have an official visit coming up with Florida State on the weekend of June 21st, what are you most looking forward to during the trip?

A: "I'm just looking forward to enjoying my time in Tally and I will be going up with my teammate Byron Louis (four-star running back target) so I will be with him as well."

Q: How has your relationship been like with defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr? Are the Seminoles recruiting you as a cornerback or a safety? Or a hybrid?

A: "My relationship with Coach Pat goes back until I was probably like 10 or 11 before I even played football for him during my freshman year. FSU, and the coaches I have talked to, like me at corner and believe that I can be a lock down outside. But they feel that I am versatile and athletic enough to play anywhere in the secondary."

Q: As you wind down your recruitment process, is there anything that you value in the schools that you will be choosing from? Do you have a timetable for when you would like to decide?

A: "I think that some things that I value are just the overall stability of the program and the coaching staff. And obviously, the earlier I can play, the better. I also consider the type of defense each college plays and how they want to use me."
