TWO BLOCKED FIELD GOALS

In head football coach Mike Norvell's introductory press conference, he talked about special teams being the foundation of what they bring to the table as a program.

Special teams aren't the sexy aspect of the game of football. Individuals want to see offenses scoring 40 points per game and defenses disrupting the opposing offenses. However, even in a forgettable 2024 season for Florida State, they can hang their hat on quality special teams.

I want to first mention the play of punter Alex Mastromanno. He has continued to pin opponents deep and flip field positions to help the defense be successful. Mastromanno had seven punts for an average of 47.6 yards. His longest was 56 yards.

However, enough about punting, many fans were raving about the special team's efforts on the blocked field goals. The blocks kept the Seminoles in the ball game even when they looked outmatched. Even going back to the LSU game in 2022, which the Seminoles won on a Shyheim Brown blocked extra point, it is so admirable that the program continues to not give up.
