OUCH!!! 4-star WR Malik Clark de-commits from Florida State
Florida State football has had a very disappointing 2024 season with losses over Georgia Tech, Boston College, Memphis, and SMU with only one win over California. Things could be get worse as the red-hot Clemson Tigers come to Tallahassee this weekend.
The Seminoles have been abysmal after they accomplished an undefeated regular season and conference championship in 2023. This program is a shell of itself. Florida State has been through the lost decade under Bobby Bowden, the collapse of Jimbo Fisher, the experiment of Willie Taggart, and now whatever this is.
I already highlights in a recent article that high school recruiting has to improve at Florida State. The program's recent struggle do not send a great message to recruits. How can you sell the vision of championship success with a program who is get devastated by team after team in year five of the Mike Norvell era?
Florida State ranks No. 35 in the 2025 247Sports Composite rankings with eleven prospects pledged to the program. Could it be worse? Yes.
On Tuesday afternoon, four-star wide receiver Malik Clark from Rock Hill, South Carolina announced that he de-committed from Florida State.
This is something that I figured would happen. The offensive unit has been looking horrific this season for the Seminoles with veteran transfer DJ Uiagalelei under center.
This Florida State offense was supposed to be built for playmakers, but they are far from that right now as they have only scored 15.2 points per game this season.
It stinks to lose such a talented wide receiver like Malik Clark. I could see home-state South Carolina get involved in the recruitment. That would be tragic for wide receivers coach Ron Dugans and company. The Seminoles still have two other wide receivers in the class with four-star Daylan McCutcheon and four-star CJ Wiley. However, I wouldn't hold my breath for them at the moment.
It could be a rocky road for Florida State for the rest of the year in recruiting...
