Florida State football's program is entering a 2024 football season where they are having to replace a ton of veteran contributors on their squad as ten of its players were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

That is not an excuse as many teams in the college football landscape have to retool their roster every year with the departures that occur throughout the offseason. If head football coach Mike Norvell wants to continue sustainable success within his program, he will have to find a way to respond to the adversity.

Florida State football is welcoming in over forty scholarship newcomers that could be massive in terms of how the Seminoles perform on the football field this year.

The program has a combined 23-4 record over the past two seasons and looks to get yet another ACC championship in 2024 (sorry Miami and Clemson).

Florida State's coaching staff once again made their presence known via the transfer portal with pickups such as DJ Uiagalelei, Roydell Williams, Malik Benson, Marvin Jones Jr., and Earl Little Jr.

However, one piece that could make a huge difference this year for the Seminoles is Indiana running back transfer Jaylin Lucas. If the fan base blinks their eyes, Lucas might be racing into the endzone. Florida State sure seemed like it wanted to emphasize speed this offseason as the do-it-all player is one of the fastest on the team.

During the 2023 season, the speedster recorded 67 carries for 275 rushing yards and two touchdowns while also having 34 receptions for 247 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Head football coach Mike Norvell also finds value in him as a special teams contribution as he had 43 kickoff returns for 1,163 yards and three touchdowns.

I expect Lucas to be a difference-maker for Florida State's offense in 2024 where he will line up as running back, wide receiver, and return man. I would not be surprised if he even took snaps as a Wildcat quarterback.

If utilized properly, the Seminoles' offense could be one of the tops in the country if Lucas is running the show in Tallahassee.
