On3's Andy Staples projects Florida State in the 12-team College Football Playoff
Florida State football attempts to turn the page into a new year as the college football landscape introduces the new 12-team College Football Playoff. The Seminoles' fan base will have to flush the notion of being excluded during last year's playoff as the committee elected to give a one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide team the nod over an undefeated Seminoles squad.
This is something that I do not believe many individuals in Tallahassee will let the college football public forget about (for good reason). The environment in Dublin, Ireland when Florida State takes on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will likely be tense.
The program is welcoming in several newcomers that will make their first appearances in the garnet and gold. This is a squad that will be returning roughly 56% of production from last season.
Head football coach Mike Norvell understands that he wants the program to maintain sustainable success. It is hard to argue the fact that the Seminoles have a combined 23-4 record over the last two seasons. While some opposing fan bases will point to Florida State's blowout loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, it can be noted that the contest was viewed as meaningless to the team after the snub.
Regardless, some people instill confidence in the program and what Mike Norvell is building in Tallahassee. One such person in On3's Andy Staples. Even though Staples is a graduate of the arch-rival Florida Gators, he is very high on what the Seminoles' team has to offer in 2024.
Staples currently has Florida State projected as a No. 3 seed where they would take on the winner of No. 6 Oregon and No. 11 Tennessee. This would be a great result if the Seminoles were able to accomplish that feat.
Just like Staples, I believe that Florida State has what it takes to be successful. However, they need to start the season off on a high note by beating Georgia Tech, Boston College, Memphis, California, and SMU before playing Clemson at home.
