DE MARVIN JONES JR.

Florida State added several transfers via the portal this offseason. There isn't one that fans are more excited about than former Georgia defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. The former five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle was someone that the coaching staff recruited heavily.

Marvin Jones Jr. is the son of former legendary linebacker Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones Sr., who played with the Seminoles in the 1990s. While there are lofty expectations attached to the younger Jones, fans have to temper those. However, it is easy to be excited about his growth and development.

The Seminoles have had the luxury of hitting on elite defensive ends via the transfer portal such as Jermaine Johnson III, Keir Thomas, and Jared Verse. Florida State is having to replace Verse this offseason as he accumulated 18 sacks over the past two seasons in Tallahassee.

While Jones Jr. did not have the start of the collegiate career that he would've liked, he has the chance to redeem his story and become a household name for the Seminoles. I believe that the South Florida native has an opportunity to make some noise.
