Florida State football will continue to conduct its spring practice at the scrimmage will be participating in on Thursday (media is not allowed at the scrimmage).

The Seminoles' defense lost several contributors such as Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Fabien Lovett Sr., Malcolm Ray, Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, Jarrian Jones, Renardo Green, and Akeem Dent.

However, elite teams continue to accumulate talent where they retool and reload their roster year after year. The 2024 season is no different for the Seminoles as they have a chip on their shoulder after being left out of the 4-team College Football Playoff last season.

Florida State defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. is going into his second season in Tallahassee. The position room is filled with talent after acquiring four prospects in the 2024 cycle with Charles Lester III, Jamari Howard, Cai Bates, and Ricky Knight III. Plus, he also added two transfers in Alabama's Earl Little Jr. and Miami's Davonte Brown.

However, it seems like fans might be forgetting about secondary pieces who are already on the roster such as Azareye'h Thomas, Fentrell Cypress II, Greedy Vance Jr., Shyheim Brown, and Conrad Hussey.

Norvell spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon and was asked directly about Thomas. After the question, the fourth-year head football coach said that the sky is the limit for the Niceville standout. The former four-star prospect in the Class of 2022 has performed well during his time in Tallahassee.

Thomas recorded 29 total tackles with a forced fumble during the 2023 season. After the graduation of seniors Renardo Green and Jarrian Jones, he will likely be the starter on the outside with veteran Fentrell Cypress II.

This will be a huge season to gain traction for the NFL as Thomas has the 6'2" and 200-pound frame could give headaches to opposing wide receivers. I am excited to see how he develops during the 2024 season.
