Mike Norvell provides updates after Thursday's spring football practice
EXCITED TO SEE HOW DE MARVIN JONES JR. IS PROGRESSING
Florida State's coaching staff was very excited at the opportunity to acquire Georgia junior defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. via the transfer portal. While he did not have fantastic statistical numbers with the Bulldogs, the Seminoles knew what they were getting in terms of his size and frame.
The Seminoles were coming into the 2024 season where they were having to replace the likes of ultra-talented pass rusher Jared Verse who recorded 18 sacks in his two seasons in Tallahassee. While Jones Jr. won't be able to necessarily replicate those numbers, he can still make his own impact in generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Norvell discusses how defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. is continuing to progress as a player. With the talented defender, it is more of a jog than a run right now as he is still getting acclimated to an expanded role. However, Seminole fans are excited to see him in garnet and gold as he is the son of former Florida State legendary linebacker Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones Sr.
I believe that the younger Jones Jr. can build his unique legacy at Florida State as he continues to mold as a player. The sky is the limit for the former five-star prospect.
