Florida State football has always been known with producing defensive backs to the NFL with former players such as Deion Sanders, Terrell Buckley, LeRon Butler, Antonio Cromartie, Xavier Rhodes, Ronald Darby, Jalen Ramsey, Derwin James, and others.

Can you claim the Seminoles as "DBU"? It is a debated topic, but Florida State has proven time and time again that it is a destination spot for talented defensive backs. The Seminoles now have Patrick Surtain Sr. coaching the secondary for his second season in Tallahassee for the 2024 season.

Florida State had a productive 2023 campaign where they generated ten interceptions. Ironically enough, cornerback Jarrian Jones led the team with three. The former Mississippi State transfer had a difficult time adjusting to Tallahassee when it came to developing.

There were lapses in his game and he dealt with a variety of injuries. However, Jones dealt with the adversity and challenged himself to be better. The senior defender often mentioned in media sessions that the media and fan base gave up on him at times.

Just like in life, the talented defensive back put his head down and went to work. He ignored the criticism and perfected his craft. On Friday night, Jones was selected with the 96th overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Fans now get the opportunity to see him in the state of Florida as he is staying in the Panhandle. We at ChopChat are so proud of the many accomplishments that the former Mississippi State transfer achieved during his time in Tallahassee. It would have been easy for him to throw in the towel, but he had a goal in mind and reached for the stars.

Six Florida State football players have been drafted so far in defensive end Jared Verse (Rams), wide receiver Keon Coleman (Bills), defensive tackle Braden Fiske (Rams), cornerback Renardo Green (49ers), running back Trey Benson (Cardinals), and now cornerback Jarrian Jones (Jaguars).
