LB JUSTIN CRYER

The linebacker play has been very average thus far throughout the 2024 season. It happens when you have to replace the likes of veterans such as Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune.

Linebackers coach Randy Shannon has historically been a good developer of talent. However, there are many young and unproven talents on the roster. They returned veteran DJ Lundy (who they got back after he committed to Colorado) and they added Auburn's Cam Riley and Alabama's Shawn Murphy via the transfer portal.

One piece that has showcased talent is youngster Justin Cryer. The former Northwestern transfer looks like a true gamer for the Seminoles' defense. During the post-game conference versus Memphis, Cryer talked about his belief in this team and coaching staff. The program needs that type of energy in the trying time.

The defense was a bright spot versus Memphis, with a level of heart and dedication. One negative aspect that I want to see is if the linebacker can pass along communication for wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs in motion where they slip out of the backfield and into the flats.

I think Cryer and company can make the adjustment.
