Highly-prioritized cornerback announces his commitment on July 20th
Florida State already has one defensive back prospect committed to its 2025 recruiting class with four-star cornerback Gregory "Zae" Thomas from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. However, the job isn't finished yet.
Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has showcased his recruiting prowess after securing four prospects in Charles Lester III, Jamari Howard, Cai Bates, and Ricky Knight III during the 2024 recruiting class. I believe that the Seminoles will try to pick up three prospects in the secondary.
Florida State could see current defensive backs such as Azareye'h Thomas (I have high hopes for him), Fentrell Cypress III, and Shyheim Brown leaving after the 2024 season. In a defensive scheme under the guidance of defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, the defense utilizes several members of the secondary.
One target that will be decided soon with Class of 2025 four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine from Westgate High School in New Iberia, Louisiana where he will be announcing his commitment on July 20th between Florida State, Miami, and LSU.
It is important to note that Antoine de-committed from the LSU Tigers back on June 23rd. It is a bit odd since you do not see Louisiana prospects back off their pledge from the Tigers often.
The defensive back officially visited Miami on May 31 and Florida State on June 14. While the Seminoles have been recruiting him heavily, it does not give me the warm fuzzies.
Ironically enough, the day after Antoine de-committed from LSU (June 24th), he received a crystal ball prediction from Geaux247 LSU Insider Sony Shipp with a confidence level of 7 out of 10. Recruiting in college football is very unpredictable nowadays.
I believe that LSU and Miami have the upper hand over the Seminoles. However, Florida State did get four-star CJ Wiley when everyone thought that he would commit to the Georgia Bulldogs but he chose the Seminoles.
