Head football coach Mike Norvell responds to Seminoles' baseball team's win over UVA
LOSING TO FCS OPPONENT JACKSONVILLE STATE
It was a rocky start for the Florida State Seminoles and head football coach Mike Norvell. During his first season, the Seminoles finished with a 3-6 record and it would have most likely been 3-9 if the season was not cut short from COVID-19.
Nonetheless, some of the fan base was growing impatient and often questioned if Norvell was the guy who should be leading the charge for the Seminoles. He was coming into a pivotal 2022 season where he needed to win over the university.
Unfortunately, another roadblock was in place as Florida State took on FCS opponent Jacksonville State in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium. This was after the Seminoles played a ranked Notre Dame team very tough the week prior. Fans were optimistic that Norvell might have found his groove with the team.
However, it quickly reared its ugly head, as Jacksonville State set itself up to win the game. On the last play of the game, quarterback Zerrick Cooper threw a 59-yard strike to walk-off the contest in stunning fashion.
Norvell had to lick his wounds after that one. Since Florida State started the season with an 0-4 record, the Seminoles have won 28 of its last 35 games. Talk about the response!
