Florida State baseball defeated the UConn Huskies on Saturday afternoon by a score of 10-8 to punch their ticket to Omaha. The Seminoles were led by the massive performance of outfielder and ACC Player of the Year James Tibbs III.

In the game, Tibbs III blasted three home runs in the Seminoles' victory. He was the driving force of Florida State being able to escape the team from playing in an elimination game on Sunday.

The performance was so eye-opening for the slugger that head football coach Mike Norvell mentioned Tibbs III on social media. He was the first Seminole since 2010 to hit three home runs in a game.

It is so awesome to see the head football coach being so invested in other programs that the Seminoles have to offer. In most cases, you won't even see a football coach comment on what is happening with other sports.

However, at Florida State, there is a family-like environment amongst the coaching staff where they all want to see the Seminoles succeed. You have witnessed Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell at basketball, baseball, and softball games throughout the season.

Athletic director Michael Alford seems to have found his foundation of coaches that represent Florida State athletics in the best way possible.

While I realize that Norvell did not get his opportunity to compete for a national championship during the 2023 season, it is awesome to see that he is fully invested in seeing the Seminoles' baseball program accomplish something special this year in Omaha.

Speaking of Norvell, he might have to replace quite a bit of contributors from a season ago, but he has made the Seminoles' football program something to be proud of as he hopes to continue to build sustainable success to what former head football coach Bobby Bowden build from the ground up.

Seminole fans are hoping that the baseball program can make history in Omaha.
