Ta’Niya Latson has continued to shine for the Florida State Seminoles. The sophomore guard was named ACC Player of the Week after two monster performances over the last weekend. As the Noles prepare for their matchup against NC State on Thursday, they’re riding momentum after dominating on their home floor.

It was a great week for Latson. She turned 20 years old the day after Christmas and was prepared for the next chapter of her life ahead. Luckily, the start of it was with her teammates as the Seminoles prepared for conference play. The first test was against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, a team that had their fair share of success this season. Playing on their home floor, Latson shined as the best player on the court and made her impact felt on both ends.

Latson showed her offensive package on full display in Friday afternoon’s game. As she continued to set the tone with her relentlessness attacking the rim, she also showed her versatility on the perimeters. Latson shot 60 percent from three while also scoring in the mid-range off-shot creation. Her offensive performance led to Florida State running away with the lead. Larson finished with 30 points on the day in a 95-80 win for the Seminoles.

48 hours later, Latson continued her dominance against Wake Forest. This was a difficult challenge because of the size of the Demon Deacons and the way they screen. Luckily, great players and great teams know how to overcome adversity. The Noles continued to play together and communicate well on the defensive end.

Latson led the way with her second consecutive 30-point game. What stood out in this contest was her ability to take over in the fourth quarter. The Seminoles played an inefficient third quarter as they scored 11 points and couldn’t take care of the ball on offense.

As Wake Forest continued to cut into the lead, Seminoles head coach Brooke Wyckoff looked to her best player to close the game. With that being said, Larson scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, which allowed Florida State to outscore Wake Forest 26-20. The fourth-quarter dominance led to a 73-61 victory for the Seminoles, putting them at 2-0 after conference play.

Latson’s past two games have allowed her to shine as one of the best players in the NCAA. With that being said, she was named ACC Player of the Week for her performances. As of today, she stands at 930 points and could become the fastest player in school history to record 1,000 points within three games.

Latson and the Seminoles continue their ACC matchups Thursday against NC State. Playing against one of the top three teams in the country will be the ultimate test for Florida State. For this team to win, Latson will have to continue to play at her best and set the tone for their team.
