Players Stepped Up

FSU had some major production from some of its usual suspects. Kalei Harding had a monster series. Jaysoni Beachum does what Jaysoni does, and Isa Torres had a monster series. However, there were a few players who stepped up when opportunity knocked. I've mentioned Mimi Gooden's performance on the mound. However, Katie Dack seized her opportunity in game three, going 2-3 with two RBI, including her second home run this season. Freshman Kennedy Harp continues to take advantage when she gets playing time. She played in the last two games, going 3-5 with five RBI, including the walk-off home run in game two.

This production came at a great time, especially in game three, when Kaley Mudge, Michaela Edenfield, and Jaysoni Beachum combined for one hit in 10 at-bats while stranding four runners on base. Jahni Kerr didn't play in the third game, so that's three big bats the offense didn't have or didn't produce. These developments are key as the season progresses and the conference competition gets better. It gives the team and coaching staff confidence when the opportunities arise again.
