FSU softball (25-9, 7-2 ACC) rolled past McNeese State with a 12-0 five-inning run-rule game Tuesday night. Makenna Reid got the win, pitching 4.1 innings while allowing four hits, ZERO walks, and four strikeouts. One thing that stood out was Reid's ability to throw a change-up multiple times for strikes. It's a development I've been wanting to see since last year, and it's evident she's been working on it. She only threw 56 pitches, which is important since the Noles have four more games this week. The Noles got on the board with one run in the bottom of the first on a Kalei Hardin sacrifice fly. Michaela Edenfield hit an opposite-field three-run home run in the bottom of the third, and Kennedy Harp continues to stay hot, hitting a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth to start an eight-run fourth inning to make it 12-0.

Jahni Kerr had a three-run home run in the inning. Mimi Gooden got the final two outs to secure the win for the Noles. Michaela Edenfield led all hitters, going 3-3 with four RBI. Devyn Flaherty went 2-2 with two runs scored and a stolen base to pull her batting average up to .268. Could this be the start of her getting hot and returning to the form she's historically had in the garnet and gold? She has struggled at the plate more than I've ever seen this year, but her production changes this offense to something even more serious. I mentioned McNeese State didn't have strong pitching in the preview, and FSU would be fine as long as they didn't issue multiple walks. McNeese State hit some balls hard with nothing to show for it. The two teams will be back in action Wednesday at 8 p.m. as the Noles go for the sweep.
