Florida State football will have to replace the redshirt junior Trey Benson, who decided to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft where the Arizona Cardinals selected him. The former Oregon transfer was a big play threat for the Seminoles' offense where he provided big-time yardage when they needed it the most.

The Seminoles added two running backs via the transfer portal this offseason in Alabama's Roydell Williams and Indiana's Jaylin Lucas. These transfers get a ton of discussion plus running backs coach David Johnson has always been known to use many backs in the scheme if the fit presents itself.

It is also worth mentioning that Florida State also returns contributors such as Lawrance Toafili, who was awarded the ACC Championship MVP honors after the Seminoles defeated the Louisville Cardinals last season.

One piece in the rotation that is often forgotten about is redshirt junior running back Samuel Singleton Jr. He was a former four-star prospect from Fleming Island High School in Florida who the coaching staff valued highly at the time.

Head football coach Mike Norvell spoke to the media after Monday's practice and stated that Singleton Jr. had probably his best day where he forced some missed tackles and ran with explosiveness.

The rotation is crowded with Roydell Williams, Jaylin Lucas, Lawrance Toafili, Caziah Holmes, Kameron Davis, and Micahi Danzy. With having so many bodies, it could be difficult for the redshirt freshman to see the field.

However, as I said, Coach Johnson is notorious for allowing his backs to play if they help them win football games. As he always says, the running backs are "on fries" where it is a collective effort.

With Roydell Williams, Lawrance Toafili, and Caziah Holmes being seniors and graduating after the 2024 season, Singleton Jr. has an opportunity to be a candidate to start in 2025.
