Florida State has struggled to run the football. In the offseason, the thought process was that the program would excel in establishing the run.

The Seminoles brought in Alabama's Roydell Williams and Indiana's Jaylin Lucas (who announced that he would miss the remainder of the 2024 season) via the transfer portal this offseason. That looked like viable options in the offense.

Florida State is certainly missing ultra-talented Trey Benson, who was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL Draft. He accumulated 1,800 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in his two seasons in Tallahassee. The former Oregon transfer was a home-run threat for the offense last year.

Williams was thought to be the No. 1 back in the offense. However, the former Alabama transfer fumbled on the second offensive play of the Memphis game, and it was tough sledding for the offense for the majority of the contest.
