Florida State football has lost the first two games of the 2024 season versus Georgia Tech and Boston College. The Seminole faithful has been frustrated with the program after being projected to win the conference and potentially be in the College Football Playoff in the preseason.

It is difficult to pinpoint one specific reasoning as to why Florida State has struggled as badly as they have. However, it seems to be out of their control as the team is looking to take it one day at a time.

Head football coach Mike Norvell has always been one to place the blame on himself for the lackluster performances. However, with two straight losses, Norvell has expressed apologies but sometimes actions speak louder than words.

The head man met with the media on Monday afternoon to discuss a few players. One that I want to highlight is starting right tackle, Jeremiah Byers. The veteran played extensively last season, but some inconsistencies kept plaguing him.

Byers was seen with crutches during the Boston College game. Norvell was asked about his availability and gave a conservative answer, stating he would see where he would progress.

The former UTEP transfer has been inconsistent during his two-year career at Florida State. He will have some plays that are encouraging and then will follow it up with some head-scratchers.

Two other options at right tackle are veteran Robert Scott Jr. and youngster Jaylen Early. Scott Jr. has played significant snaps throughout his time with the Seminoles. However, his injury history has consistently got in the way of furthering his development.

As for Early, he was inserted in the starting lineup versus Boston College in-game. It was a challenging experience for the talented and young offensive lineman. The former four-star prospect had his growing pains.

This could be a learning experience in the offensive line until Byers is fully healthy. I hope that he gets healthy. I am nervous that the injury could linger him a couple of weeks.
