FSU football : Why transfer Shawn Murphy could be a game changer in 2024
By Kelvin Hunt
Parting Thoughts
Shawn Murphy has the talent to excel in FSU's defense and he's physically ready to play. He's received good coaching while at Alabama, so it shouldn't take too long to get acclimated to how Adam Fuller and Randy Shannon operate since it's a very similar defense to what Alabama runs. The continuity FSU has on the coaching staff should pay dividends here since there's a set system in place. Also, having the veteran leadership of DJ Lundy bring Murphy along should be helpful.
Kalen DeLoach wasn't as physically developed at this point in his career and didn't have the benefit of good coaching the first two years. He also wasn't as highly-touted out of high school. All the ingredients are there for Shawn Murphy to explode on the scene in 2024. Murphy enrolling this spring to get reps in the defense was huge, and he'll have all summer and fall to hone his knowledge of the scheme to earn his spot in the lineup.
