Florida State football does not have a game today as the Seminoles will take on the Boston College Eagles on ESPN at 7:30 PM EST on Labor Day night. However, the fan base can see last year's fourth and fifth-best teams in the state (FAMU and UCF are ahead of them- I'm kidding... kind of).

The arch-rival Florida and Hurricanes take on each other at 3:30 PM EST today (8/31/2024). Head football coaches Mario Cristobal and Billy Napier are in a battle of who wants to stink it up the worst. Cristobal's in-game management is so bad that he had to hire an in-game management coach while Napier's November slate could hand him his walking papers.

I realize that Florida State football lost to Georgia Tech, but the Seminoles can still control their destiny if they get out of their way. The Seminoles were projected to win the conference after they finished with an undefeated regular season and a conference championship.

Miami has heightened expectations once again (they do this every year) after they added transfer quarterback Cameron Ward from Washington State. Florida has been the talk of the offseason for the worst reasons due to having a tough month of November.

This brings about the question: Who should the Seminole fan base root for?

This tweet describes my direct feelings about this situation.

I want both teams to lose this game and I strongly dislike the color orange. It would be amazing if this ended in a tie where no one won.

However, if I had to choose, I would pick the Florida Gators at home. Losing for Miami does not impact the conference standings since it is an out-of-conference contest. If Florida finds a way to win, then maybe that means head football coach Billy Napier could stay around another year in Gainesville which would benefit the Seminoles greatly.
