FSU football: Top 5 concerns going into the 2024 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Offensive Efficiency
The FSU offense never seemed to reach its potential in 2023. Outside of the second half against LSU and Duke. The offense seemed to meander through the season, exploding for a quarter here or there, but had way too many drives that resulted in nothing. FSU saw nearly 13 percent of its drives end without reaching a first down and punting. Jordan Travis getting hurt skews that number some, but the offense forced the ball to Keon Coleman, Jaheim Bell, and Johnny Wilson too much early in the season.
The running backs missed some obvious cutback lanes too often, and the offensive line failed to open holes in other instances. Jordan Travis didn't run as much and overall the offense didn't have a real identity. Will they establish an identity early in 2024? Most pundits expect FSU to be run-heavy while stretching the field vertically in the passing game. Can they sustain more drives to at least flip the field more often? Will the running backs have better vision? Will the offensive line block better? Will the offense be more efficient in the red zone?
