FSU football: Top 15 most important defensive players for 2024 season
By Kelvin Hunt
No. 2 Darrell Jackson Jr.-DT
Darrell Jackson checks in at the No. 2 spot at the defensive tackle position. If we go back to the 2022 season, we can see how having no depth at the position had the defense on skates in several games against teams with solid running games. FSU had a tremendous quadruple attack of Joshua Farmer, Braden Fiske, Fabien Lovett, and Malcolm Ray to rotate all game. They lost three of those guys, but Darrell Jackson practiced all last season and is poised to set into that void.
He'll team up with former high school teammate Joshua Farmer. However, aside from Grady Kelly, there isn't much-proven depth behind him. There are also some question marks about Jackson since we haven't seen him through a full season at FSU yet. He has shown he can dominate, but can he do it consistently? If not, the defense isn't going to be as good as we'd hope up front. However, if he does? This FSU defense will wreck a lot of offenses.
