FSU football: Top 10 most important wins in Mike Norvell era
By Kelvin Hunt
Miami 2022
If you want to look for statement wins, look no further than the beatdown FSU put on Miami in 2022. The Noles had beaten the Hurricanes in 2021, but Miami had a new head coach that was supposed to be their savior in Mario Cristobal. However, Miami got destroyed in several games before the Noles traveled to Doak South. Folks like to say throw out the records in rivalry games, but that wasn't the case in this one.
FSU set the tone early with a long game-winning touchdown to Ontaria Wilson fewer than two minutes into the game. Some Miami fans thought the 2021 FSU win was a fluke, but thanked the Noles non-stop for helping to fire Manny Diaz and bringing Cristobal home. This win proved the two programs were heading into opposite directions, and was the beginning of FSU winning its first State Championship since the 2016 season.
