It probably lost some of its luster because of what happened with the College Football Playoff snub, but the 2023 win over the Florida Gators was an important win. It was the second consecutive year FSU beat the Gators, and it was on their home field, with the Gators looking to end FSU's chances to make the College Football Playoff. Both teams started backup quarterbacks because of injuries to their starters, and Florida jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the second quarter.
The FSU offense had poor field position for nearly the entire first half, with Tate Rodemaker at QB. However, like most of the season, the FSU defense put the clamps on in the second half, and the Noles found some rhythm in the second half to pull away for the 24-15 win. A win in the swamp is always big, and it completed FSU's first undefeated regular season since 2014.
