FSU football: Top 10 BOLD predictions for 2024 season
By Kelvin Hunt
No. 5 Kyle Morlock will have 40+ receptions for 500 receiving yards
Kyle Morlock had 19 receptions and 255 receiving yards in his first year at FSU after transitioning from DII ball. Mind you, this is with Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, and Jaheim Bell in the lineup and Morlock not producing any receptions in the final three games(after Jordan Travis got hurt). If we remove the running backs, Morlock would be the leading returning receiver from last year's team. I expect great progression in his second year in the offense and he has the size and speed combo to be a major factor in the offense. He has had a great spring, summer, and fall camp.
The tight end position was a favorite of DJ Uiagalelei at Oregon State and Clemson the past two years. Oregon State's tight end had 29 receptions for 438 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023. Clemson's tight end had 39 receptions for 443 and five touchdowns in 2022. There should be big opportunities for Morlock to make explosive plays in this offense. He averaged 13.42 yards per reception last year and probably had 3-4 huge plays nullified by penalties last year. Keep an eye out!
