It's difficult enough to project each game before the season starts, but to determine who FSU would face in the first game of the College Football Playoff is impossible. However, here's what I know. FSU will have arguably its deepest team in nearly a decade. They'll be strong in the trenches, will play great defense, and should be able to run the ball. That combination alone beats most of the teams on its schedule. The difference between beating good to great teams is in the fine details. The offense protects the ball, scoring touchdowns instead of settling for field goals, converting third downs at a high percentage, and getting off the field on third down defensively.

FSU will have at least 12-13 games to understand its strengths and weaknesses. The coaching staff will know who to trust in key situations. It'll depend on what their overall seed is, but this team could beat anyone if they execute and don't beat themselves. They have experience at all the key positions and a coaching staff that's excellent at game preparations. I like this team against most teams in the nation without seeing them play a game yet.
