FSU football: Top 10 best transfer portal additions in portal era

The No. 3 player on the list is Oregon transfer running back Trey Benson. This was a transfer portal addition that got panned by the FSU fan base because they didn't like the addition. Benson wasn't productive at Oregon and had a horrific knee injury before joining the FSU program in the 2022 spring. However, like most times, the FSU coaching staff was right, and many fans had to eat crow. Benson led FSU in rushing yards in both seasons in the garnet and gold. He rushed for 990 yards in 2022 and 906 in 2023 and had 23 rushing touchdowns in his FSU career. Most importantly, he never fumbled a carry.
Benson was also productive in the passing game and on special team. He was a two-time second-team All-ACC selection. Benson was a third-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2024 NFL Draft.
