FSU football: Top 10 best transfer portal additions in portal era

Tatum Bethune
The No. 8 player on the list is UCF linebacker Tatum Bethune. Bethune was coached by FSU linebackers coach Randy Shannon while Shannon was at UCF. Bethune entered the transfer portal and enrolled at FSU in the spring 2022. Bethune immediatley helped improve one of the biggest weaknesses on the team and became a third-team All-ACC selection in 2023. Bethune was second on the team in tackles in 2022 (84) and led the team in tackles in 2023 (70). He was second in tackles for a loss with 9.5 in 2022 and had 5.5 in 2023. Bethune had three passes defended in 2022 and 2023, and four QB hurries.
Bethune helped Kalen DeLoach become a better linebacker and turned a below-average linebacker unit into one of the better units in the ACC. Bethune became a seventh round NFL Draft selection of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 NFL Draft.
