The No. 1 player on the list is Georgia defensive end Jermaine Johnson. This one was a TOUGH call! Johnson surprised many by joining the Noles in the 2021 spring. The 2021 season by Jermaine Johnson was one of the best in recent history. He led the team in tackles (70), tackles for a loss (17.5), and sacks (11.5). He almost beat Clemson and Miami by himself, and his game against Miami was one for the ages. He had seven tackles, five for a loss, and three sacks. What's more impressive? He predicted he would have a huge game before the Miami game.  

Johnson became a first-team All-American, first-team All-ACC, and ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He was a first-round selection of the New York Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft. I put Jermaine Johnson over Verse because Verse likely never goes to FSU if Jermaine Johnson hadn't done what he did at FSU the previous year.
