FSU football: Three signees that could get meaningful reps in 2024
CB CHARLES LESTER III
I completely understand that fans are upset about losing five-star safety KJ Bolden to Georgia. However, you cannot lose sight of the fact that a four-star (should have been a five-star) cornerback Charles Lester III from Venice (FL) did sign with the Florida State Seminoles.
There was a point in time when fans began to feel nervous when Lester III mentioned Colorado due to head football coach Deion Sanders flipping former 2022 Florida State five-star cornerback commit Travis Hunter from the Seminoles to Jackson State.
However, the talented defensive back remained firm in his pledge from July and decided to put pen to paper. First-year defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. and his unit performed well where the Seminoles' defense ranked No. 7 in the FBS in passing yards allowed (170.4). The play of redshirt seniors Renardo Green, Jarrian Jones, and Akeem Dent had a big factor in accomplishing that feat.
However, those players will be moving on at the end of the 2023 season. As a result, Florida State needs to find viable options to replicate its production. I believe that Lester III is built for the opportunity to be successful.
I could also envision Lester III playing both sides of the football as well as being a contributor in special teams.
