FSU football: Should fans worry about not acquiring transfers yet?
DE MARVIN JONES JR.
The Florida State Seminoles will need to find another viable starter at the defensive end position due to potentially losing redshirt junior Jared Verse to the NFL (this has not been officially announced yet).
One option that I know FSU fans would like to see to be his replacement is Georgia sophomore defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. His father, Marvin Jones Sr., played linebacker for the Seminoles from 1990-1992.
During his recruitment, Florida State fans were salivating over his recruitment and what he could bring to a university in terms of rushing the passer. However, five-star Marvin Jones Jr. elected to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs.
During his two-year playing career with the Bulldogs, he was able to get playing time at the university. However, he was just considered as a reserve. At Florida State, he would likely be the starter that pairs alongside the ultra-talented Patrick Payton.
While I would not expect a nine-sack season from Jones Jr., I think he could be a viable pass rusher who could make a difference in a defense that will be losing starting pieces such as two defensive tackles, three linebackers, two cornerbacks, and one safety.
It could be a matter of time before Jones Jr. makes his decision.
