FSU football: Ranking the top 10 WORST fanbases in the ACC
By Kelvin Hunt
When FSU football joined the ACC in the early 90s, none of the teams in the conference were serious about football. FSU was among the elite programs nationally as an independent, and the ACC was a basketball conference always centralized around the teams on Tobacco Road. If we fast forward 30 years, the latter remains true, and FSU is among the top 10 programs nationally going into the 2024 season. It's crazy how things come full circle, and now FSU is suing to leave the conference that never appreciated what it did for the conference. That sentiment became evident as FSU began to vocalize the need for more money to remain competitive in football with teams in the SEC and B1G.
Several opposing fan bases laughed and called FSU all types of things. The words entitlement and poor money managers were common. However, those fanbases never compete at the highest level, so it made sense they were uninformed about why it's necessary to leave the ACC. They didn't hold back on social media, not to mention all of the things said when FSU happened to have a few down years, despite dominating the conference well over the majority of the time they were in it. My colleague Norvell Central wrote about his top three ACC programs he wishes he could kick out of the league. Here are my top 10 worst fanbases in the ACC.
