Contributors

  • Grady Kelly-Kelly will serve as depth at defensive tackle, likely taking the reps Malcolm Ray had last year. He'll rotate in with the likes of Daniel Lyons and KJ Sampson.
  • Jaylin Lucas-He lists as a contributor, but he could see a lot of snaps depending on the situation. He's a player I expect the staff to utilize in certain matchups to take advantage of his speed and shiftiness in space.
  • Davonte Brown-Brown will provide experience and depth in the safety position as younger, more talented guys get their feet wet.
  • Tomiwa Durojaiye-I like the versatility Durojaiye will bring to the defensive trenches. He will eventually play defensive tackle but could line up at the end if they needed him to. He'll contribute in 2024, but it'll be 2025 when he could become a real dude.
  • Jacob Rizy-Rizy has taken snaps primarily at center-to-back-up Maurice Smith. He'll have that role or be somewhere along the interior. He has two years of eligibility remaining, so could make more of an impact next year once Smith leaves.
  • Omarion Cooper-This name likely rings some bells. Cooper has versatility and will add depth after leaving FSU to play one year at Colorado.
  • Cam Riley-Riley is a wildcard who could become a starter at linebacker. He didn't enroll this spring, otherwise I'd probably have him as a starter.
  • Shawn Murphy-Murphy enrolled in the spring, but hasn't separated himself as a starter yet. It's probably one reason FSU continued to pursue Riley. He might contribute as a rotational piece.
  • Jalen Brown-Brown has the potential to get a lot of reps at the receiver position. That unit is looking for guys to separate themselves, and he's one of the most talented receivers on the roster.
  • TJ Ferguson-Ferguson will provide depth in the interior of the offensive line. He'll likely fit into the rotation.

Potential Starters

  • Roydell Williams-I'll list Roydell Williams as a starting running back, although Mike Norvell will likely use the committee approach. I expect Williams and Toafili to get the majority of the carries early in the season. Williams brings good experience from Alabama and looked good after enrolling this spring.
  • Richie Leonard-Leonard will likely start somewhere along the interior, and can take snaps at center in the event Maurice Smith goes down. Leonard had multiple starts on the Florida offensive line in 2023 and enrolled this past spring.
