FSU football coaches added the No. 7 transfer portal recruiting class in the 2024 recruiting cycle. FSU added 17 transfers from various programs, nine from the SEC. It's interesting to go back and look at the quality of players between FSU's first transfer portal class and now. Nearly all of these guys were blue-chip players out of high school or have proven themselves with multiple years of experience in college. It's one of the reasons I've been high on the 2024 team and one of the first to point out the similarities between this team and the 2022 team. The 2024 FSU football team will be much deeper and arguably more talented while entering with more experience and proven production than that team.

The 2022 FSU team went 10-3, losing three games by 18 points. The lack of depth in the trenches on both sides of the ball was a major issue. FSU was unproven at the wide receiver position, linebacker, defensive end, and in the secondary. Jordan Travis hadn't proven he could consistently play at the level he eventually reached to become a legitimate Heisman candidate. FSU has homegrown talent developed from the high school ranks: AZ Thomas, Patrick Payton, Darius Washington, Lawrance Toafili, DJ Lundy, Shyheim Brown, Maurice Smith, Joshua Farmer, Ja'Khi Douglas, Hykeem Williams, and others will be major contributors in 2024. I want to look at the 17 transfers and discuss what category they'll fall into—a contributor, starter, or difference-maker.
