FSU football will be tasked with acquiring a quarterback via the transfer portal this offseason. The Seminoles only have two scholarship signal callers on the roster for the 2024 season with Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek.

The two main quarterbacks that the Seminoles' coaching staff have circled in the transfer portal are Oregon State's DJ Uiagalelei and Washington State's Cameron Ward. While I wrote numerous articles discussing each option, the time is coming soon to choose an option.

The Seminoles are in dire need of some encouraging news after Florida State has been in the negative discussion of the college football landscape with being left out of the College Football Playoff, suing the ACC, and the several opt-outs for the Orange Bowl matchup versus the Georgia Bulldogs.

However, on Sunday night, 247Sports' National College Football Writer Chris Hummer reported that quarterback transfer Cameron Ward is expected to decide in the next few days. That was one obstacle in the signal caller sweepstakes for the Seminoles.

On Thursday morning, On3's College Sports Business and Transfer Portal Reporter Pete Nakos reported that Oregon State quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei is "in a waiting game" where he is evaluating the NFL while also seeing if he can be a Florida State Seminole.

This is a smart move by Uiagalelei as he looks to give himself options if Florida State decides to go with Ward or even another quarterback. However, on the other hand, the coaching staff cannot sit around and wait on Ward to make a decision with the lack of depth at the quarterback position.

It would be very unfortunate to strike out on Ward and then Uiagalelei decides to opt for the NFL. The coaching staff had to tell the former Clemson and Oregon State transfer that they wanted to see what Ward does first. Nonetheless, it could make the veteran frustrated with playing the waiting game.

This is certainly a pivotal time for the coaching staff to get their guy at the quarterback position.
