Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-8, 1-7 ACC)

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons started the 2023 season blazing hot, winning their first three games, but fell back to earth after that. The combination of losing their starting quarterback, who had been there for what seemed like a decade, several Super Senior COVID players, injuries, and losing some players to the transfer portal impacted Dave Clawson's team greatly. Wake Forest went (4-8, 1-7 ACC) with only two wins over Power Five teams.

So much for the fastest-growing brand in the ACC. I'm afraid the days of Wake Forest sneaking up on teams and winning are likely over for the most part. The Demon Deacons can't compete on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal. The days of keeping and developing players are no more for Dave Clawson. The 2023 season is about what we should expect from Wake Forest moving forward, with the occasional winning 7-8 games now and then.
