FSU football was robbed of an opportunity to compete for a national championship by the College Football Playoff committee after being an undefeated Power Five conference champion.

This led to outrage from various coaches, players, recruits, and fans of the university (and even outsiders). The 13-member committee blamed the Florida State playoff snub on the injury of redshirt senior quarterback Jordan Travis.

The Alabama Crimson Tide jumped the Seminoles in the final College Football Playoff rankings because the committee felt as though they were the "better" team and thought they would not stand a chance in the playoff "invitational".

However, head football coach Nick Saban and company went to Pasadena (CA) to take on the No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines. The offense under the guidance of their starter, Jalen Milroe, was only able to muster 116 passing yards as the Crimson Tide lost by a score of 27-20 in overtime.

While I understand that Milroe showcased his dual-threat ability in the game where he had 21 carries for 63 rushing yards, he did not force the Michigan defense to respect his passing downfield. They were able to run the football effectively with running back Jase McClellan as he recorded 14 rushing attempts for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns. However, he was not utilized as much down the stretch of the contest.

To say that I was frustrated when the committee did not include the Seminoles in the College Football Playoff is an understatement. The "deserving" team in Alabama only totaled 288 yards, while allowing Michigan's JJ McCarthy to complete 17 of his 27 passes for 221 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Overall, this is a football team that is incredibly upset by the decision of a committee. This is not something that can be forgotten easily. Once again, I wish that this 2023 version of the Florida State Seminoles had an opportunity to compete on the biggest stage.
