Parting Thoughts

Two themes emerged from looking at the players throughout each recruiting class. The players Willie Taggart recruited were not close to FSU quality players, and FSU would have never gotten back with him as the head coach. I think the narrative he got fired too early is finally dead based on what happened when he took over at FAU. However, this still supports the sentiment that FSU was so far removed from elite status when Mike Norvell took over it's not even funny. The other theme is that FSU has improved its high school recruiting quality tremendously in the Mike Norvell era. The average per-player-ranking improved year over year:

  • 2021: 88.79
  • 2022: 89.54
  • 2023: 89.81
  • 2024: 90.90

The combination of higher-quality high school players and top-end transfer portal players changed the overall talent level for the Noles to make them competitive with most top programs. The challenge will be improving the quality of high school signees while plugging holes on the roster with quality transfer players.
