Lack of Execution

FSU hasn't been able to run the ball much because teams know FSU doesn't have a proven passing attack and stack the box. Mike Norvell has used passes to the running backs as extensions of the running game with some success. However, overall the lack of a passing attack is the lack of execution. The plays are there. Check below:

It's third down, and Lawrance Toafili is wide-open against a linebacker. If Toafili makes the catch he's running for days. Some folks believe Uiagalelei threw this ball too hard, but this is a catch Toafili has to make.

It's second and 11, and Uiaglelei throws a perfect pass to Kyle Morlock, who drops it. If Morlock makes this catch, he's running for at least a 20-yard gain. He can't be any more wide open than that.

FSU has to settle for a field goal here after missing a wide-open touchdown. It's a perfect pocket to throw from, and Uiagalelei just sales the ball out of bounds and gives Darion Williamson no shot to catch it.

This clip is nearly the same play where Morlock dropped the pass in the earlier clip(he might have dropped this one too). However, how does DJ Uiagalelei not see him here? The pass protection is excellent, and he seems to pre-determine where to go with the ball. Morlock was WIDE open again here.
