FSU football: Noles trending for important transfer DE Tomiwa Durojaiye
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches continue to work the transfer portal, with spring classes beginning in Tallahassee on Monday. The Noles added a big-time receiver from the transfer portal Monday in Alabama's Malik Benson. FSU fans are aware of the remaining holes on the roster, and one is the defensive end position. FSU had three important defensive end targets on campus recently, and it looks like the Noles are trending with one of them. WVU transfer defensive end Tomiwa Durojaiye received two crystal ball predictions Monday afternoon with confidence of six and seven. Durojaiye signed with Kentucky out of high school and redshirted before transferring to West Virginia in 2023.
He lists 6'4" and 278 pounds. He had 23 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks. The good thing about Durojaiye is he'll have three years of eligibility left, which would address some of the recruiting misses at the high school level the past couple of years. FSU beat out Auburn for his services, of course, FSU lost a high-profile blue-chip defensive end to Auburn in 2023, Keldric Faulk. Durojaiye is a huge guy who seems to be more of an edge-setter against the run than a pure pass rusher. However, FSU has a strong track record in developing defensive ends over the past three years, with Jermaine Johnson, Keir Thomas, Patrick Payton, Jared Verse, and Byron Turner Jr. getting better year after year. Durojaiye would also help provide more depth to the position, with Gilber Edmond entering the transfer portal recently.
I mentioned how spring classes starting could make guys quicken their decisions. If Durojaiye commits, I'd expect it to happen fairly quickly in the next day or so. FSU coaches continue to thread the needle between high school and transfer portal recruiting. Stay tuned to Chopchat for recruiting coverage and analysis.
