FSU football finished the season with a record of 13-1 after losing a meaningless Orange Bowl matchup versus the Georgia Bulldogs by a score of 63-3.

The Seminoles had several opt-outs in the game since the College Football Playoff committee snubbed Florida State of the opportunity to compete for a national championship after going undefeated in the regular season and winning their conference championship.

It was understandable as to why a variety of Seminole players did not participate in the contest. While most outsiders viewed it as a "culture issue", the committee deemed their entire season meaningless where they battled and competed to fight through adversity for nothing. Some even suggest the fact that Georgia still competed at a high level and their players played in the game.

However, the Bulldogs had their opportunity to be in the College Football Playoff, but they lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship. Florida State was unconquered and still did not have the chance to show what it was made of with a full roster.

On Monday morning, the final AP poll ranking was released for the 2023 college football season.

Florida State finished tied for sixth with the two-loss Oregon Ducks. While the Ducks do have quality victories over Oregon State, Utah, and Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl, they were not able to get over the hump of beating the Washington Huskies where they lost twice.

Plus, two-loss Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns yet again are positioned at the number three and five spots over the Florida State Seminoles. This is appropriate to how the month of December went for this Seminole fanbase.

Overall, I am content with Michigan, Washington, and Georgia being over the Seminoles in the final AP poll, but I do believe that there is a serious argument for Florida State finishing as the number four team in the ranking.
