FSU football: Major takeaways from first scrimmage 2024 spring camp

Quarterbacks
"Brock does have a year within the system. I would say even right now that Brock has probably a little bit more confidence in some of things that he is being asked to do."
"I think DJ has done really well in grasping things and really well in his overall understanding, but now it's just competition. He needed a day like today and there were some really good moments and some plays where he kind of resorted back to maybe not the cleanest things when it comes to his fundamentals, but that is what today is all about."
"They've been good, I mean really good those first four days."
"Brock had some good moments and he had some challenges."
"I thought Luke was, for a first scrimmage, I thought Luke was outstanding. We really gave him the last couple of drives ... He moved the ball down the field. I saw that as he got into the scrimmage, I thought he really did a nice job of being able to go and execute."
"So it was good for all those guys to have positive moments, but then there were definitely some plays and things that we've got to clean up when it comes to just the finer details and that will definitely come with more repetition."
Thoughts
It sounds like Brock Glenn's familiarity with the offense has allowed him to shine this spring while DJ Uiagalelei continues to try and learn on the fly. Mike Norvell and Coach Tokarz are big on fundamentals, and that's something they're trying to help DJU find some consistency with. I pointed out DJ Uiagalelei's tendency to not set his feet sometimes in some old footage before he committed to FSU. It's a natural tendency with guys that have cannons for arms. It sounds like Luke Kromenhoek had a good day and is coming along nicely. I think the quarterback room is going to be just fine for the foreseeable future.
