FSU football: Impact players for 2024 season opener versus GT in Dublin, Ireland
WR JALEN BROWN
Florida State is having to find options in the wide receiver position room after big-bodied playmakers such as Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman went to the NFL.
The Seminoles added Alabama's Malik Benson and LSU's Jalen Brown via the transfer portal. There has been a ton of buzz this offseason where individuals suggest that Benson is considered the number-one wide receiver option in the offense.
That is high expectations for the former Crimson Tide transfer as he only recorded 162 yards and one touchdown during the 2023 season. However, the veteran has been the most consistent during fall camp.
If Georgia Tech's defense finds a way to bottle up Benson, the Seminoles need to find other options in the passing game. I believe that redshirt freshman Jalen Brown could emerge. Brown did not record any statistics with the LSU Tigers last year but the former four-star prospect did appear on the depth chart as the number-two receiver.
Head football coach Mike Norvell noted that Brown has consistently improved this camp and will be a factor this season. I think Brown's elite speed could get past the Georgia Tech defense for high-yardage gains.
Disclaimer: I did not include Uiagalelei in my impact players since I believe that it is a given that he will have to make some critical throws to give Florida State the best chance to win.
