FSU football: How better quarterback play can change everything for the Noles
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football is off to an unexpected 0-2 start in 2024. The expectations for FSU were sky-high after a 13-0 undefeated campaign in 2023. The return of several starters from last year on both sides, talented portal acquisitions, and a veteran former five-star quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. After all, FSU had used the transfer portal better than any team in college football over the past few seasons and improved its high school recruiting. There was no reason to think the 2024 season would be any different.
The first two games unveiled several issues, and FSU hasn't played anywhere close to expectations. The FSU defense has struggled to stop the run, missed tackles, and players have failed to execute assignments. There has been zero pass rush(because they can't stop the run). However, as bad as the defense has played, I'm confident FSU would be 2-0 or 1-1 at worst if the offense performed better.
The issues on offense stem far beyond the quarterback. However, the offense starts and ends with that position. DJ Uiagalelei's struggles have permeated throughout the entire team. Here's how better quarterback play could change everything for FSU.
