Florida State football opens the 2024 season in Dublin, Ireland versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Seminoles will be welcoming several new faces to its roster that they added via the transfer portal and recruiting ranks.

Head football coach Mike Norvell has built a culture and foundation within his program where the results are starting to show themselves on the field with a combined 23-4 record over the past two seasons.

Even with the many new players on the roster, the Seminoles still have quality pieces returning to the team in 2024 such as running back Lawrance Toafili.

Georgia Tech's defense was horrific in stopping the run during the 2023 season where they allowed 221.3 rushing yards per game (128th in the FBS). The Seminoles' offensive identity in 2024 will likely revolve around the idea of running the football.

Even though they added the likes of Alabama's Roydell Williams and Indiana's Jaylin Lucas, it is still worth mentioning that redshirt senior Lawrance Toafili is on the roster.

Toafili was awarded MVP honors in the ACC Championship Game victory versus Louisville in the last game that he played where he recorded ten carries for 118 yards and one touchdown. The Wildcat formation with the former four-star prospect seemed unstoppable.

However, as the 2024 season quickly approaches, it seems like the offense also needs Toafili as a receiving threat. The offense is having to replace pieces such as quarterback Jordan Travis, wide receivers Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman, and tight end Jaheim Bell from last season.

Fans could expect the Seminoles to get the football out quickly with DJ Uiagalelei. Florida State's coaching staff is trying to find weapons to emerge alongside Alabama transfer Malik Benson, who has been the most consistent option.

During his four-year career in Tallahassee, Toafili has recorded 67 receptions for 690 yards and four touchdowns. He needs those numbers to increase if he wants to be a focal point in the offense for 2024.
